Matt Ryan Fighting Speeding Ticket in Court

Before becoming Mayor of Binghamton, Matt Ryan spent a lot of time in court as a public defender. But Friday, he was there as the defendant. Ryan appeared in Johnson City Court Friday to fight an ordinary speeding ticket -- one that was issued after he was allegedly traveling 46 miles per hour on Harry L. Drive, which is a 30 mile per hour zone. Ryan asked Judge Richard Miller to adjourn the case after his lawyer, which he hired Thursday, was unavailable Friday. If you're staying in town this Labor Day weekend, there's plenty to do to wrap up your summer, including the return of the annual Johnson City Field Days. The Field Days are being held at the popular field on Harry L Drive in Johnson City, and feature rides, games, food, and plenty of fun. Those at the Fair say they're expecting big crowds this weekend, especially if the weather cooperates. Senator Gillibrand Wants The Government More Transparent

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand was in town Friday to discuss the new push to make congress more transparent and accountable. The Senator announced a new effort to pass bipartisan legislation that would make the federal earmark process fully transparent for all lawmakers. The Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee overwhelmingly passed the legislation last month. Gillibrand says this legislation will put an end to doubts taxpayers might have as to whether the government is working for them.

Final Draft Of 2035 BMTS Tranportation Plan Complete

The final draft of the BMTS Transportation Plan is complete and available for public comment. BTMS is required by federal law to develop a regional transportation plan with a horizon of at least 20 years and it has to be updated every five years. The current plan titled Transportation Tomorrow :2030 has guided BMTS in its investment of federal funds over the past five years. BMTS says the plan is not just about repairing streets and bridges.
